Tuesday Thoughts

  • Why do people think just b/c I have tattoos, multi-colored hair, & I dress a little different sometimes that's it's okay to just let it all out and cuss and say awful things in general conversation when you don't even know me??? I was getting my passport today and the guy assisting me was talking crap about the lady behind me in line saying she was a crazy bitch and that she comes in there all the time trying to get her daughter a passport and she brings different guys in w/her all the time trying to say that they're her father. She was of Asian descent and I guess didn't speak English very well and he was making fun of her for that as well; that she never understands him and he just has to end up sending her away. My eyes just got huge and I was speechless. I would never talk to a stranger that way no matter what they looked like. People are so judgmental.
  • Speaking of getting my passport. The Government is absolutely ridiculous. $110 for a passport book. $15 for the photo. $25 for a processing fee. I would've provided a photo but they made it very clear that they would rather take it for you b/c your head can't be too big, it can't be too small, it has to be perfectly centered and facing the camera exactly, your head can't be tilted slightly, the image can't be rotated, there can't be a glare on your glasses, the background has to be plain, the photo can't be too dark, the contrast can't be too high, it has to be the proper color, it can't be over or under exposed, there can't be shadows in the background or shadows on your face, it has to be the correct resolution, it has to focused properly, etc. And a $25 processing fee...I'll process it for you. I'll enter my own information. I'll file it for you. Again, ridiculous.
  • I'm sad that Amy Winehouse died. I loved her. Her music. Her quirkiness. Her bee hive. Her style. Such a tragedy to die at such a young age. I send much love and prayer to her family. Your children are not supposed to die before you.
  • Trey Canard... if you've broken your legs 3x this year already...maybe Motocross isn't the sport for you.
  • I love you Steak Finger Basket from DQ. I know, I know... I shouldn't be eating that. I had one for lunch today! I need to get back on track. I've been doing so good w/getting in shape for our vacay and this weekend totally blew it for me! I don't know why I did that. My bad.
  • Note to self: Make sure you put Elvis' shoes on the right foot so they don't rub his feet raw and give him blisters to the extent that he can't wear shoes.

Weekend Rewind

This weekend was full of maxin' & relaxin'! I told myself I wasn't going ANYWHERE or doing ANYTHING! And I didn't! Every weekend we've had somewhere to go or someone to see. Also, I've been dieting for weeks on end so I wanted to eat lots of good food too. My goal this weekend was to lay out by the pool and have some drinks, eat lots of good food, & watch a ton of movies. Goal achieved! :)

Friday Kennedy went back to her Dad's and Lindsey was working so me and E we're all by our lonesomes. We went and ate a slice at Joe's Pizza for din and then we came back and watched Rango. Pretty cute movie. E fell in love w/it and watched it about a thousand times this weekend. After we watched Rango we went swimming. E had a blast! Apparently the maintenance left the water hose on and he was squirting anything and everything. He didn't even really swim b/c he was so fascinated by the water hose. That was pretty much it for Friday: Pizza, movie, & swimming. Saturday Lindsey got up early to meet his Dad to go ride so once again E and I were all by our lonesomes. I got up and drank my morning cup of joe while watching the Lincoln Lawyer w/Matthew McConaughey in all his hotness. Bad ass movie by the way. After my movie was over E and I headed up to Whataburger and got some breakfast. I got a potato taquito w/cheese and some hash brown sticks and a Dr. Pepper. Told you I was pigging out this weekend. Just wait it gets even worse! After breakfast we just chilled around the house. I cleaned a little bit. Did some Shredding. As soon as Lindsey got back we went to In and Out Burger and I got a Double Double (Animal Style) w/crispy fries and a chocolate shake! Ouch the calories in that chocolate shake! E feel asleep while we were out so we came back and ate and put him down for a nap and we napped ourselves. After we all woke up we went down to the pool for a swim and some beers. After we went swimming we went and rented some movies for E and we got some dinner. We decided on Taco Cabana. I got a chicken soft taco, a beef soft taco, & a personal order of bean & cheese nachos. Oh my goodness it was so good. Needless to say I was totally stuffed at this point! I couldn't move so I just went to sleep! Easy solution. Sunday I let the boys sleep in and I got up and got ready for church. Finally woke them up about 10am and we headed out. After church we went out to eat w/our pastor and his wife and their little girl who's about Elvis' age. We went to Ameila's in Rowlett. I totally chowed on the hot sauce chips like they were going out of style and then I had 3 cheese enchiladas, beans, & rice. Grace and Elvis made a HUGE mess; they're probably never going to let us come back! Lol! Oh well...it was worth it b/c it was deelish! After Lunch we headed back to Frisco and E took a nap while watched yet another movie...Born on the 4th of July w/Tom Cruise...an oldie but a goodie! After our movie and E woke up we headed to Toys R' Us to get a Little Tikes Basketball Goal. At church E was going crazy over the basketball set up there and Toys R' Us had them on sale for like $25 so we went and got him one. After Toys R' Us we went and got some froyo. Yummy! I got Birthday Cake w/Strawberries and little pieces of Cheesecake. Cake on top of cake = heaven. After our froyo trip we went swimming again and had some more drinks poolside. I was a total lush this weekend and pruned from all the swimming. We came back from swimming, gave E a bath and headed out for a drive to get him to sleep and to pick us up some dinner. Got Jack In the Box... Breakfast Jack, Curly Fries, & a Dr. Pepper. Breakfast for dinner is the best!

So that's it. That was my gluttonous weekend! I didn't do anything all weekend long but eat, sleep, & swim and it was great. Just what the doctor ordered...a weekend of relaxation.

Congratulations Holly & Drew!

This past weekend we attended the nuptials of our friends Holly & Drew. The ceremony was at the First United Methodist church in downtown Ft. Worth. The church was beautifully ornate. The service was perfect! Holly looked absolutely amazing!

From the ceremony we headed over to the D.R. Horton Tower for the cocktail hour while the wedding party took their pics. Open bar + hor d'ourves = dangerous.

The reception was located in the same tower just different room and it was absolutely stunning. Super high ceilings, huge crystal chandeliers, mirrored walls, great view of down town Ft. Worth. The ambiance was great...candles & flowers everywhere. It was a pretty traditional reception...dinner, drinks, dancing, toasting, cake cutting, etc. Except for the fact that Holly is Egyptian and they did the lifting of the bride & groom in the chairs... pretty cool; not sure what it symbolizes, but it was neat! For the dinner they had an open pasta bar which was absolutely delicious but my retarded ass had a little too many glasses of wine and forgot to put the sauce on my pasta and didn't notice until I started eating it and thought it tasted a little bland. I ate it anyway. Oh well.

Here's some pics from the event. Excuse my photography skills. The pics were taken from my Blackberry and like I said... I was inebriated so that didn't help too much either! :)

Happy 21st Birthday Shelby!!!

Sorry this is a little late... I know your actual birthday was on the 17th...I'm a little behind on the blog these days.

I can't believe you're 21! I remember when I 1st met you guys we were going to one of your Dad's and Blake's races and Blake was already there so me, you, Chelsea, your Mom, & Dad rode in the XB together. And you & Chelsea were talking about "when you turn 21" and I said...man, when you're 21 I'll be 30!...and you and Chelsea both freaked that I was that old. And now your 21 and I'll be 30 in 2 months. Geeze time flies!

Anyway, I hope 21 opens lots of doors of opportunity for you! You're officially an adult now so be wise and make good decisions!

We love you more than anything! Happy 21st Birthday Shelbers!

Darndest things kids say and do...

I'm sure all of you have your fair share of stories about you're little ones innocently saying and doing inappropriate things because I know I do! Here's a few recent ones:

E and I were at the pool one day this week and there was another family there swimming and all the kids kept getting out of the pool and running around and jumping in and having a good time. And this one time E goes over to the where the other family is and I think the Mom was handing one of the kids something. She was standing on the edge of the pool bent down and E goes over there right next to her...I thought he was going to jump in...instead he starts to pee and it's running down his legs and onto the ground right next to her feet and then he proceeds to follow the action up by yelling, "Mommy...tee tee. Mommy...tee tee."

One day Lindsey and the kids were going to the grocery store and Lindsey was getting them out of the car and they were walking up to the grocery store and this elderly lady walked by and made a comment to Lindsey about how cute the kids were and Lindsey politely thanked her and they all went about their ways and Kennedy turned around and looked at the old lady and proceeded to say in a very loud voice, "Why did that old lady sound like a man!" The lady was obviously very hoarse from years of smoking and I'm pretty sure she heard her.

So Kennedy and I are sitting up on our balcony hanging out and this lady who is bald, who is obviously going through chemo, or is recovering walks out from the breezeway in our building and Kennedy yells out, "Oh my gosh Mommy look at that bald lady! Why doesn't she have hair?"

I pretty much take the kids swimming everyday and just last night I kept telling E that we weren't going swimming until he ate his dinner. And this went on for about an hour or so and I'm sitting in my rocking chair in the living room reading a magazine just having a quiet moment and E comes up to me and says, "All gone." I look over and there's still half a grilled cheese left on his plate so I tell him that he has to finish his other half if he wants to go swimming. I tell him he has to eat everything. So he goes over to his plate picks up the other half of his sandwich and goes and puts it under the couch right in front of me and says, "All gone." I was like, no sir that's not gonna fly and I looked under there and the other half was under there too. He never even ate the other half. Clever little bug. Keep in mind he's only 2!

I can't believe I'm going to tell you guys this one...it's so gross and kind of embarrassing. Anyway, one day Kennedy is brushing my hair and she stops and she's starts touching my neck. Note: I have a mole on my neck. It's not like some big gross hairy mole or anything. I have a lot of freckles and moles. I realize she's touching my mole and I ask her what she's doing and she's asks me what it is and I tell her it's a beauty mark just like the ones she has because she has some too, but her's are flesh w/her skin and this one isn't and I guess she's never noticed it before. She follows that up with, "Mommy, are you sure that's not a meatball b/c it looks like a little meatball."

And of course there's always the tooting in public and the nose picking and the groping and touching of my boobs while they're sitting in the cart at stores and saying "Boobies" out loud when they do it.

Oh but my favorite is when I take Kennedy to a public restroom and we're both in there and she's talking to me through the stalls saying things like, "Do you have to poop too Mommy?" or "My poop is too big, it won't come out." Keep in mind there's other people in there with us.

Got any good stories???? Share them!

Special K Challenge

I've decided to do the Special K Challenge to help whip myself into bikini shape for our upcoming trip. Nothing else has worked, so why not. I've tried P90X...couldn't hang. I've counted calories... lost track. I did the South Beach... quit after Phase 1...the hardest phase! I've done The Shred... got about half way thru. Got a gym membership... too intimidating. Started running... got thru the couch to 5k and quit... never actually did a 5k b/c I did it on a tread mill and when I tried to run outside I couldn't do it; totally different. I got up to 2 miles at the most outside. I walk a lot but it's too hot for outside activities right now. I don't know what my deal is. I'm surrounded by people w/great weight loss success stories who have attempted and finished all of the above. You would think I would be motivated by that or at least motivated by the fact that I feel like crap about myself and I'm uncomfortable in my own skin. Guess I gotta find what works best for me. I think it's the mental part that gets me tho. Hopefully this diet will stick. I started just yesterday and I will admit it was tough. A low calorie diet is always hard on me. I get headaches and I have no energy... at least for the first couple of days. In the Special K Challenge you replace 2 meals a day with your choice of any of the Special K cereals, protein shakes, or protein meal bars. For the 3rd meal you obviously eat sensible meal of your choice. You can have two Special K snacks consisting of protein snack bars, fruit crisps, crackers, & protein water mixes. You can also have as many servings as you want of fruit and vegetables. And then you drink beverages as you normally would.

Yesterday I started out with this:

Lunch consisted of this:

And this was dinner:

And dessert:

So wish me luck. Hopefully I'll stick to this one. I think I'll incorporate The Shred whenever I can too.; maybe if I'm not putting so much pressure on myself to do it everyday it'll work out better especially since I'll be dieting too. Anyone else done the Special K?
